Several national stories today highlight the endorsement of medical marijuana by the American College of Physicians.
Second to the American Medical Association, the group is one of the largest and most respected medical organizations in the country, which is why the move made headlines.
The physicians say the debate over whether to legalize marijuana has obscured good science.
The group put out a position paper on its Web site Thursday calling on the federal government to reclassify the drug and drop charges against doctors who prescribe it to their patients for medical purposes. (They also defend the patients who use it for medical reasons).
