Food poisoning can be sneaky when it creeps up on you. It is even sneakier when it creeps up on you months or years after you’ve survived the initial bout.
Researchers at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention say high blood pressure, kidney damage  even kidney failure  can occur 10 or 20 years after a person has survived a food-borne illness like E. Coli, the Associated Press reports.
With the number of food recalls, particularly in the meat industry, that has occurred in recent year, a new consumer advocacy group, STOP, or Safe Tables Our Priority, is beginning the first national registry of food poisoning survivors.
